It’s that time of year when every cricket fan is excited. Of course, you guess it's right it's IPL Auction time. IPL auction for season 15 is just one week away from us. This year auction will take place in Bangalore on 12th and 13th February 2022. This year's auction has a completely different flavor to it. This year 2 new teams have been added to the grand league. All 8 existing teams had to release all their players into the auction pool. Teams could only retain 4 players at max. Either 3 Indian and 1 overseas or 2 Indian 2 overseas. Teams had a difficult choice to made about whom to retain from many players at their disposal.
The 2 new franchises were given 3 choices to pick from after the existing franchise had retained their players (only 4) but before the auction. So new teams have also picked up 3 players for each team. So now all the action and focus is on ipl auction. Total 576 players have registered for this auction out of which 228 are capped players ( players who got caps for their respective countries) and 356 are uncapped players. While 7 players belong to associate nations. Even players from USA and Bhutan have registered themselves for the auction.
If you see the auction dynamics for this year, it being a mega auction don’t expect teams to break banks on one single player (like Rajasthan did the last auction with Chris Morris) Also this auction where many superstars are available there will be a bidding war. Many Pundits have started to guess who will be the highest earner of this auction majority agree on Shreyas Iyer as one Let’s see what happens on the auction day.
Another big news relating to ipl is the 2 new teams had to reveal their names and logo by 31st January. But as of today, only the Lucknow team has done that while Ahmedabad is keeping its cards close. They haven’t released their name nor their logo as of now. If the Ahmedabad team doesn’t reveal their name and logo before the auction day then BCCI will be forced to give them temporary names for auction days. BCCI did same thing back in 2011 when the Pune Warriors hadn’t officially reviled their name so BCCI for auction days gave the name as Team Pune same might happen with Ahmedabad.
Since its auction week drama will be increasing each day. Don’t forget to follow us for all the latest ipl mega auction2022.
