Indian Premier League and its Future

Indian Premier League has been a great success story so far. Since the inception of IPL Indian cricket has turned upside down. Many young cricketers have emerged and have delivered a big time for Indian cricket. Likes of Hardik Pandya, Jaspreet Bumrah all have been products of IPL and have turned out to be good for Indian cricket in general. IPL has connected to even small towns of India. IPL has brought excitement from fans.
Each year IPL has got more fans connected to sport in general. IPL has given many unknown stars to world cricket. IPL has been increasing its value and brand value. IPL has seen many sponsors throughout its journey. From DLF in the first few seasons to Pepsi to Vivo. Now this season ipl has got another sponsor as TATA. Media rights have been a great source of revenue for BCCI. The current media rights deal is with Star Sports. This media rights deal is set to expire after this upcoming season. Now BCCI has a big question regarding the media rights, who award these rights for the next 5-year cycle.
Now since the team has increased for IPL. From 8 teams IPL has become a 10 team affair. Earlier there were 56 league matches and 4 knockouts but from this season the league matches will go up to 70 since there are 10 teams. According to many widespread reports, BCCI is planning to expand IPL and by 2026 their target is to play 100 matches in total with 96 league games and 4 knockouts.
