India vs Sri Lanka: Test Series Pre match

Indian Team after disappointing Test series against South Africa returns. Indian Team returns to red cricket. India will be hosting their neighbours Sri Lanka in a 2 match test series which will be part of ICC World Test Championship.

Since the frustrating loss to South Africa, a lot has happened with the Indian Test team off the field. Indian Test captain Virat Kohli shockingly resigned from his captaincy and test team regulars the likes of Rahane, Pujara, Saha and Ishant Sharma have been shown the door by team management and new young players have been added to Indian Test team. Now with Virat stepping down as captain, Rohit Sharma has been appointed as Indian Skipper for all 3 formats. This upcoming Test series will be Rohit 1st series as the Indian Test Team Captain.

Now coming to the Indian Squad, there are a lot of changes to it. Likes of Rahane Pujara have been shown the door while Shreyas Iyer, Priyank Panchal, KS Bharat have been selected into the team. In bowling department left arm chinaman Kuldeep Yadav and young left arm pacer Saurabh Kumar have been given an opportunity.


Sri Lanka has announced their squad for the upcoming 2-match Test series against India starting on March 4. They will be led by their regular captain and opener, Dimuth Karunaratne in a quest to secure crucial WTC points.

Ace all-rounder Angelo Mathews is part of the squad having cleared his contract issues with the board. Dhananjaya de Silva will be the deputy while Kusal Mendis’ participation is subject to fitness at the moment The Lankans have played only two games in the WTC so far, and have secured wins in both. They are at the top of the ICC WTC 2021-23 points table with 100% of points won. India on the other hand is in fifth place with 49.07% of points won.
