Covid Strikes Indian Team! Will the West Indies series happen ?

After coming back from South Africa Indian team had a small break and then was the upcoming West Indies series. Team India was assembled for series in Ahmedabad on 29th of January and had their practice session scheduled from 31st Jan.

But unfortunately, bad news came. Almost 11 members of the current setup have come Covid positive and now the entire series is in jeopardy. Now BCCI has a tough decision to make about the coming West Indies series.

Many Big guns such as Shikhar Dhawan , Yuzi Chahal , Ruturaj Gaikwad have been detected covid positive. These players are certain to miss out ODI leg of the tour. Also reports coming that coaching staff and backroom staff members are also been detected covid positive. Fielding coach T. Dilip and Team Physio have also been infected by covid 19. Team India now faces an uphill task of outing out an eleven for 1st match which begins on the 6th of February.

Another issue is that both opening candidates Shikar and Ruturaj have been tested positive so who will open for team India along with Rohit Sharma is the big question.

BCCI has now added a few players to the squad such as Mayank Agarwal Rishi Dhawan Ishan Kishan. Another major aspect is that will series against West Indies get rescheduled due to ongoing covid 19 cases in the host camp. Bucci officials have said we are flexible with scheduling and the series might be extended by 1-2 days here and there.

Another aspect bcci needs to consider is a rescheduling of this might affect on ipl auction as you can’t have a match on IPL auction day. So will rescheduling of this series result in Mega auction getting Rescheduled too?
